THE MODERN MAN’S TYRANT-BY OGUNYOMI ISRAEL ABIDEMI
When
the carapace of existence
Pastes
bundles of bewilderment
On
the intellect of man,
His
chatoyant brain ventures into the
Herculean
task of explaining the structures,
The
making of which his curious skull is oblivious.
Aristotle
contemplates an order,
Thinking
life itself is an expression of purpose.
Hence,
whether or not we work,
We
would be poor if we are to be.
Then
the force, maybe God himself,
Will
be perfect an entity to be incarcerated
If
partiality becomes a crime.
But
now that the gracious modern man proves
God’s
guiltlessness of the ancient lies
By
justifying his fingers’ innocence
In
the designation of fate,
Upon
what hills should the world set her eyes?
To
re-array the world’s thwarted mind
And
re-thwart it in his chosen style,
The
modern man, perceived by the world
As
an enigmatic messiah,
Relieves
himself of his strenuous endeavours
And
burns incenses to the hills of innovation.
So
he glorifies invention, a seducing tyrant,
Too
stunning and powerful
For
the world’s eyes to ignore.
See
what modern man’s tyrant does to the world,
He
sits elegantly upon the throne of existence
And
controls the traffic of life.
He
invites at pleasure and banishes at will.
