 I never saw or experienced poverty as a child Until I was fully grown and entered the real life The world I see now is filled with hunger and pains People work so hard but cannot really buy much A mother even finds it difficult, feeding her child She wakes up every morning not knowing how to survive But believes in her strength, a bit of luck and a heart filled with faith That there will always be a helper passing through her place I see too, many, in darkness just waiting to be brought to light They believe at the end of a tunnel, there's a promise of light My question today is 'will there ever be a light?' Will parents be able to feed their hungry children and so stop the cries? Will the pain ever stop, knowing there's so much poverty going round?     The time, first, to glow in the city The time, first, to be stranded The time, first, to be rich The time, first, to strive The stinking wealth, Lagos, the mother The pearly penury, Eko [1] , the eyesore Influx the poor, influx the rich Oh! The sky-licking skyscraper of Islands Stirred the hope, repelled the despair Ah!
