The time the word indict the peace to marry the war
The time the world befriends the chaos
The time the word ally with pen with treaty of peace
The time the world gobbles the world with relish of calm

If roaring, the war, and growling the rift  
Coax the pen with hampers—
Spicy words, eatery the peace
The earth must not lose its eyes
Lest the poet loses the heart to plant the words

Write the word for the world,
To know the right to write,

The right word to nurse the right world.

English the language of the colonial masters in Nigeria. Colonial masters bequeathed English to Nigeria as part of the ways of making Nigerians adopt their culture. Since language is part of the culture and culture is part of the language, Nigerians overwhelmingly adopted British culture and viewed it as the best gaze in the mirror. The prestige attached to British culture cannot be confiscated in English, the British language.
