IBADAN: by Lateef Kehinde Rahmon (Guest Writer)

A city of memory
A legendary land
Ibadan,
An ancient cafe of golden age
Spring like a firmament's glow
In the western sky
Ibadan,
Rising sun of gold and splash
Among the seven hills.
Ibadan,
Gigantic crest of historical facts
Of brave warriors: Lagelu,
a bravura man on the battlefield;
Efunsetan, a woman with a tongue
full of fire, a heart full of charms.
Ibadan,
We must never let you fade
Like a dark span of human
Memory
Ibadan,
We must never let you die
Like the evening's lamp in the wild
Wind - for you have seen the
Toils of your offsprings.
Ibadan, spread your generous arms
We must never let you taste sour
Like rancid milk from the
mammary glands of famished cows.
