The Elephants Have Fallen

A sighing song; my hearts sing Spread sorrows seed roar in my soul The weight of unshed tears in my hearts My inner language's misery Pooh! the Elephants have fallen Violently cracked to the underground self-containers By a bunch of heartless and faceless baboons Whose vision, mission and direction Chameleon nature into hunting Oh! the elephants Who stand against hunting of the defenseless Who extricate the effete From the chains of fear The fire of thy heroism Paralyzed the phobia on our premises You are out of sight But my mind will cherish you till l visit the silent land Oh the elephants! Thy deaths are not in vain Thy deaths visit you at the night time You fulfilled what you were born for To use thy blood to trim our tainted premises Which is the present paragon of pleasure Farewell to thy but not thy flame The lions of the animals Who die yet depart not The echoes of thy heroism shall blast the descendants' ears as the winds whisper a melod...

ALẸ ẸRẸBẸ (Wedding Night), A Poem

Now we have whistled to the pall and banished the light To cuddle dusk with dawn for our night chuckles Apparel, foisted, to clothe the sky Blind its sight, stab its heart Lick up it conscience So not to peep through the window of our pajamas While we plough on the shore of love We must journey to the butt. Tonight, We shall open the foil through orgasm frail Unlock hymen, its door, so we swim in the valleys Even tempest gleams, your balls rise, my gear zooms, our train must swoon. We shall pursue not the puddle with muzzles In the spiffy ovum chamber our blood must lodge. The jive in the ovum chamber tonight Must squeeze the strength of dusk Inform all night guards, no traveler till dawn. The limb horse will ride in the tide: To drown in the shore of clitoris, sinew in uterus. Arike, Let me lick the honey lodged in your sacrum Through the tongue of my scrotum. Before dawn the hungry blood From hymen must un-holy the blanket; Immortal, the spot, so not to...

The Rain Has Fallen

Our lugubrious echoes Deafen Heaven's ears Our question is answered The Rain has fallen Image desires; our hearts dance Shadows of passion dwell in us Like a wild bird in a rapt nest At first night after donkey's years. Dusk passes by Silence, we, in confusion Daylight softly whispers Evening brakes the quandary And welcomes the general dirge O heavily Heaven! Distress, your eye answers Immense sorrow your weep brings Like the venom of Summer From His veil Heaven smiles and whispers O naïve native men of earth! No wind is favourable If the sailor knows not sailing Languish you in distress kingdom As darkness clings round night Long your calculator wrongly fathoms out Man-made from God-made logic Key opens door; God opens heaven. A CRITICAL REVIEW OF A PLAY TITLED “ARMattan of VENOM” BY OLANIYI ABDULWAHEED

Playwright : Gege Baseran Title of the book : ARMattan of VENOM  (KOMMEDY of the Other ) Genre : Play Reviewed by : Olaniyi Abdulwaheed ………………………………………………………………………………………………….. It may not take an ordinary man to wipe the tears of a suffering land. The land that is full of chaos is not always friendly with orderliness. While some are working towards progress, many are blocking the estuaries to the sea of social development. In the land, people bargain their conscience with personal gain. People whose responsibility is to look after the social well being of the people, serve as the doctors to societal hills, are even the patients to be treated at the ward of the universe. Oftentimes, it is so painful to be in the harsh condition of social weather; when there should be breeze, it gives heat; when rain is required, it gives Harmattan, so everyone in the society shivers in the boulevard of penury and chaos. In this sense, Gege Baseran travels to the world of ...

Is the English Language a Curse or Blessing to Nigeria? by Olaniyi Abdulwaheed

Image
English the language of the colonial masters in Nigeria. Colonial masters bequeathed English to Nigeria as part of the ways of making Nigerians adopt their culture. Since language is part of the culture and culture is part of the language, Nigerians overwhelmingly adopted British culture and viewed it as the best gaze in the mirror. The prestige attached to British culture cannot be confiscated in English, the British language. However, many scholars with different opinions have argued on the existence of the English Language, whether it is a curse or blessing for the country. Some argued that, embracing English language is a curse to Nigeria, whereas some believe that it a force of blessing for the nation.  The growth of the English language in Nigeria can be traced to the heterogeneous nature of Nigerian society. Nigeria is a country with many languages with at least of about 400 languages. Most of these languages are not mutually intelligible, that is, speakers of one la...
