FG, Ooni, Aregbesola Officially Flag off Cashew Plantation in Osun, by Olaniyi Abdulwaheed

The minister of Agriculture,  Mr Audu Ogbe, Ooni  of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi  Ojaja II and the governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola  officially flagged off cashew plantation on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 in Ogudu, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The Minister of Agriculture conducted the official inauguration of cashew plantation in the state to facilitate the efforts of the Federal Government in diversifying the economy of the country. It was learnt that the Federal Government wished to do the same across the country but Osun was the first to embrace the initiative.

While addressing the people, the minister said that cashew plantation was the first item on the agenda of the Federal Government in embracing agriculture, saying that the next focus would be on cocoa and bananas.

He said further that youths would be the beneficiaries of the laudable agricultural programmes of the Federal Government, adding that the time had come to empower the youths and overcome the challenge of unemployment in the nation.

Giving a good will message, the Ooni  of Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan described the day as a new dawn for the youths. He urged them  to embrace agriculture.

The Governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola felicitated with the people of the area for the laudable programme, saying that the state has enough land for farming. He then urged the Federal Government  to consider the state in other subsequent programmes.

One of the farmers in Ogudu, Mr Sunday Felix also appreciated Osun State Government for the contribution, promising that the farmers in his area would take care of the farm for the common good of the state.
